What isn’t meant by “the world”
- The earth
- Those concerned with things that aren’t overtly spiritual
EXAMPLE:
A definition of “the world” – the overwhelmingly predominant system of life apart from the Creator’s Voice; heavy on deceit; introduced by the devil and over the millennia built upon/ made labyrinthine by billions of first-Adamites under devilish oversight.
Ephesians 2:1 – most everything sinks to, flows in this. A lot of this is MOOD.
1 John 2: 15-17
- The three components
- Appetite for sensations
- Appetite to own, consume, experience
- Exaltation, advancement
- So far, neutral…
- …but all apart from the Voice
- What does it mean to love the world?
Pursuing the above in a way that directly disobeys the Creator or that puts oneself in position for future disregard/disobedience
EXAMPLES: Adam Sandler movies; caramel popcorn;
Galatians 6:14 – In Jesus’ crucifixion…
- The world was crucified to me: When Jesus took on the sins of the first Adam and brought those down into the realm of death, the world – the sin of the first Adam expanded/systematized – was put to death. Post crucifixion, there is no future for the world, and anything that contradicts that is just the world’s dying regurgitations. I, a creature of life by grace, have no concern in death.
- I was crucified to the world – Representing me, Christ was killed by the world. The official fact is that the world is done with me, and I’m done with the world. The world has no hold on me, because I’m dead to it.
SUMMARY: Understand that our disconnection from the world isn’t a goal but rather the present status.
Romans 12:2 – Unless we a) present and b) think we’ll be sucked into the world’s mindset. Keep raising the flag of loyalty to God. Then, don’t not think. Don’t be regulated by emotions or vibes or any such.
EXAMPLE: Seeing through
John 3:16 – that rebellious system the object of God’s love
Pilgrims – we are pilgrims in this system
